I blinked

Three years ago [last Friday], I waited oh so impatiently for Brad to get home from school, his surprise sitting on the dining room table. I kept wandering to the window, watching for him to pull into the parking lot. And then he came inside, saw what was sitting on the table, and I couldn't stop smiling.

Three years ago we found out we were pregnant with Savannah. It is one of the most precious moments in my life.

I remember being so excited, I felt about to burst with love for our little coffee bean, thinking that 9 months seemed so far away. And now I find myself, three years later, so in love with that little tow-headed tornado. She is chaotic, she is exhausting, she is beautiful. I cannot get enough of her. She is stubborn (like her mama) and eats like a bird. She is tiny for two, but perfect just how she is. She is so smart, she blows me away on a daily basis. I don't know where she learns half the things she knows, but nothing gets past her. She knows her abc's, she can count to 10, she sings so many songs on a daily basis. We don't have nearly enough video of her because she is fascinated with our side of the camera. I have never known someone to have such immense love for their sibling- she lives and breathes for her little brother. She wants to teach him everything she knows. I can't even keep track of how many words she knows, because she learns more every day. She speaks in full sentences (though she often confuses pronouns) She has a memory like an elephant. She is perfect and imperfect at the same time.

She recently learned how to say her name correctly. First she was "Nanner" and that progressed to "Sanare" and then over Memorial Day weekend she started pronouncing it Savannah. If you as what her name is she will tell you, very matter of factly, "Savannah Belle Martin," with emphasis on the T. She knows her brother (Landon Dale Martin) and mommy (Jenna Michelle Martin) and daddy, too (Bradley Dale Martin) We are working on everyone else. But she has the animals down pat too (every animal has the middle name Dale, too)

She passionately loves the aquarium. All the fish have names and she recites them ten times a day. She wants to help daddy with the tank all the time and gets such a giggle out of feeding the fish. She wants Pablo to "get her finger" (he gives kisses!) She loves chocolate milk 10 times a day and loves the outdoors. She hates when it rains, and is scared of thunder. She sings "rain, rain go away" whenever it storms. She loves everything TinkerBell and is such a girl... but hates brushing her hair and loves to play in the dirt. She has such compassion, she is always worrying about things that seem sad to her. She is full of emotions and isn't afraid to tell us what she is feeling. She is Savannah, she is a mess, and I love her to death.

May

Well, May was a busy month for us!!

Savannah took advantage of the beautiful weather and started spending her afternoons outside. My mom had bought her a picnic table for her birthday- one afternoon she got pretty quiet so I peeked out the back door to see her sitting by herself at the table, having a little snack. She looked so cute at that big table all by herself!

Being outside by herself meant she could run, jump and play in all the dirt she wanted (and since we were letting our grass die since we were planning to re-sod- I'll add photos soon- our backyard was mostly dirt.) And boy, did she end up dirty!

With Mother's day coming up, I got Savannah and Landon all dressed up to try to get nice photos to frame for our Mom's. Savannah loves this dress, which I got on sale at Old Navy. It's one of my favorites, too!

She looks so grown up to me in these photos!

Landon, of course, just laid in the grass. And for some reason, it was so itchy! I was sitting down and for ours later my legs were itching me like crazy, so I am sure he was going nuts, too!! He looked so cute in his little cap, but the sun was so bright that he could hardly keep his eyes open.

My attempt to get a photo of them together didn't go as well as it did at Easter- Savannah didn't quite get that I wanted to let Landon lay back on her- she kept trying to lay down with him on her lap. This was as good as I could get:

So in the end I decided to just take photos of the kids with our Mom's and frame those. Which ended up working out nicely. Here they are with GiGi-

And with Grandma-

Savannah also really enjoyed the marshmallow treat that Grandma and Granddaddy brought back from their trip to France! Of course, the gummy tie was her favorite part!

Savannah really enjoys playing on her slide and swing that we got for her birthday. Landon's not quite big enough for the swing, but we had to give it a try, anyway!

A few weekends ago we headed up to the pool to take Landon swimming for the first time! Savannah looked so stinking cute in the rash guard suit I got for her at Old Navy. Landon was very much at peace in the water, content to sit and relax while Savannah splashed all around him!

It's been a while since Savannah was up there, so I think she had forgotten about the kiddie splash area they have- she loved running through the water with Daddy there to catch her!

And then she bundled up in the Tinker Bell towel GiGi bought on eBay- Tinker Bell is Savannah's best friend these days. Grandma and I ran up to Kohl's on Mother's Day weekend and ended up practically redecorating her room in TInker Bell! She has 3 pairs of TB jammies and she'd prefer to wear one every single day!

Today Landon had his 4 month appointment:

He weighed in at a whopping 13 pounds, 2 ounces and has grown to 24 1/4 inches long- the 25th percentile for both. He is doing great, reaching all his milestones and was such a good boy even when he had to have 3 shots!

I still have another group of photos of the kids from the weekend Jaime and Shawn came down, not to mention the before, during and after shots of the back yard project- but this is already gone on long enough and it is time to cuddle Landon some more before bedtime!
