It's a BOY!!

After a very whirlwind day of being sent in for an induction due to my blood pressure being elevated, our SON Landon Dale Martin entered the world at 1:48 am on January 29, 2008. He weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces and measured in at 19 1/4 inches- not bad for being only 37 weeks gestation!! He is an absolute doll and we are completely in love- even Savannah. I'll post a more detailed birth story once we are home and settled (which should hopefully be tomorrow) but I wanted to show him off to the world. Thank you all for you prayers- they are definitely appreciated!

36 Weeks

I was in desperate need of a dye job, so when Shelby was in town this weekend I convinced her to do it for me- it's a lot darker than it has been but I LOVE it. Up close it has some reddish highlights. I think it turned out really well.

I certainly don't feel like I look 8 months pregnant, which is a good thing!! I definitely feel it, though!!

34/35 Weeks

Had a nice change of pace- an uneventful doctor's appointment today! My blood pressure was where it has been, so I was told to keep doing as I have been doing. My blood sugars looked good, too. They told me to go ahead and come back in 2 weeks, and then back to weekly after that. Because of the holidays, my "weekly" appointments have been at least 10 days apart anyway. So my next appointment is January 21st, and they want to have me hooked up to the monitors because of my diabetes, to make sure that my placenta is doing everything it should be.

Hopefully things will continue on this good pace!! Next time I go back, I will be in my 37th week- basically full term!! It is so weird to think how fast this pregnancy has gone by, and how soon our new baby will be here!!

Wrapping Up 2007

It's been pretty hectic around here since Christmas. I have to admit, I got pretty spoiled having everyone around, helping out! The 26th was pretty low key, we ran out to Brandon for a little bit so Brad could use some of his Best Buy gift cards- those things burn holes in his pocket like nothing else! I am getting tired pretty easily these days, so it was a quick trip, then back to the couch for me.

The 27th was our 4th wedding anniversary. Grandma Martin came down to watch Savannah so that Brad and I could actually celebrate our anniversary together. I had a doctor's appointment earlier in the afternoon, which Grandma came to with me so she got to hear Baby Martin's heartbeat, too- something Brad hasn't even been able to do yet! I met yet another doctor in the practice- I think she was the last one I hadn't met- and everything looks good right now. I am measuring right on schedule, the heartbeat is good and strong. She mentioned wanting to start non-stress tests (where they monitor the baby's heart rate on the monitors for an hour) at 36 weeks- I am going to see if I can start at 37 weeks and do them every other week rather than weekly, but we will see what they say.

Here we are in front of our tree [notice our crooked star- I've been after Brad for weeks to fix it!]:

It was nice to have a grown up night out! We went to a movie [Enchanted] which was really cute. It was really sad when we realized that this is only the 3rd movie we have seen since 2006- we saw King Kong (ew) with Chris and Julie on New Year's Eve 2006, and then we saw Music and Lyrics last February. Pretty pathetic- but I guess we are saving some money, because we were blown away by how much it cost to see!! 2 tickets, $18. A small popcorn and a medium drink- $10. $28 for a movie date!!

After the movie we went across the street to the Brandon Mall and had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory (my GD diet went out the window!!) It was nice, albeit very busy and they were sold out of my cheesecake I wanted [Snickers] so I settled for chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake, which was really good but come on, it wasn't Snickers! I'll just have to find an excuse to get back there, sometime!

Here I am at 33 weeks:

I swear, my belly changes size depending on what clothes I am wearing. It is funny to put something on and say, I look so much more pregnant today than yesterday! Or less than yesterday!

After our anniversary, we had another low key weekend, which was nice. I had bought Brad Rock Band for his XBox 360 for Christmas, so we played around with that for a bit- the drums are so much fun!! There were a lot of bowl games to be watched, so we were mostly up in the loft, watching on the big screen. Savannah spent most of the weekend playing with her favorite new toy- Mr. Potato Head. She loves putting all the pieces in the box, and then dumping them out and picking them back up again. Mindless entertainment. She is also a HUGE fan of the Little Einsteins sticker book Brad found at Toys R Us. I ended up with Einstein stickers all over my belly at one point- including a moon covering my belly button. It was quite a sight!

On New Year's Eve, my parents came up (!) around dinner time. I fixed a yummy pot of chili and we watched the Auburn/Clemson game and then we all actually made it up to see the ball drop. Pretty anticlimactic when you are 7 1/2 months pregnant and can only sip on sparkling grape juice, but nice to ring in 2008 with my parents there, too. Then yesterday Dad and Brad went to Orlando to see the Capital One Bowl, which the Gators lost. But mom and I had a great day, laying around in lazy clothes and talking and just hanging out. It was nice to have a quiet day at home with my daughter and my mom!

I will be 34 weeks pregnant on Friday. The countdown is starting to begin- I think, once I hit 37 weeks if my pressure is up they will want to go ahead and induce me, so really we are anywhere from 3-6 weeks away from meeting the newest Martin! Which, of course, has me starting a list of all the things I want to get done before we have a baby in the house- we will see how that goes. But #1 on the list is getting a new car seat- I think that needs to be done this weekend!
