It has certainly been a busy month (gulp!) since my last update. Savannah not only turned 18 months, she is just days away from 19 months! She has done a lot of growing and developing in these past few months and weeks. Her vocabulary grows every day and she is constantly amazing me with the things she comes up with to say. Right now we are working on encouraging her to put two+ words together, but she is more interested in doing it her own way. More power to her, I guess! I find myself constantly scrambling for the baby book to write new words down and while I am writing I start remembering more and more words and animal sounds she knows. She absolutely cracks Brad and I up with some of the things that come out of her mouth!

18/19 Months; Halfway Point
We also hit a MAJOR milestone in Savannah's life: Praise the Lord, Hallelujah- Savannah has started sleeping in her Big Girl bed! I wasn't sure how the adjustment was going to go, but it had gotten to the point where she slept perpendicular to the bed and Brad and I were allotted less than a foot of bed space each- in our king sized bed! I knew I wanted to try to transition her well before the baby comes, so that she will be used to it enough that she won't have any regression (please, Lord!) when there is a new baby in the house. I started a week before she hit 18 months and she actually slept through the night! I didn't get any sleep, with her not only being out of our room for the first time in 14 months, but also because she is on a separate floor from us. I kept creeping back upstairs to make sure she was still breathing!
I didn't want to say too much about the bed, as I was trying not to jinx anything. After the first week went well, I was feeling cautiously optimistic that it was going to be an easy transition. Then came the first football weekend, and with her having to sleep with me at Brad's parents house, I was really nervous what would happen when we got back home and she had to go back into her bed. But she didn't bat an eye when we headed upstairs for bedtime.
There have been a few nights where she has ended up staying with us- she got sick about 2 weeks ago and spiked a fever and wasn't sleeping at all, so I let her fall asleep in our bed. Every once in a while she will wake up at 6 when Brad gets up and wakes the dogs, so on those occasions I have brought her downstairs for a few more hours of sleep. Last night, even, I was laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy and she was sitting next to me- next thing I know her head os on me and she is snoring away. She is not very good at transitioning from one place to another so I knew she would wake up when I tried to move her, so I just let her sleep. And the when I woke up, curled at an angle across the bed with my head precariously close to the edge- that is when I remembered why we moved her upstairs!
As for the Martin-to-be: Today marks 20 weeks of pregnancy! It is unbelievable to me that I am halfway through this pregnancy- it is just FLYING by! We had our ultrasound on Wednesday and the tech was so sweet, when we told her we didn't want to know the sex she didn't even go down in that area. Our little wiggle worm made her work for the measurements, though- the baby did not want to sit still for anything! It was so neat to see our little son or daughter in there, moving and kicking all around and every once in a while feeling the movements I could see. I have been feeling good kicks for about 3 weeks now- and Brad was able to feel a HUGE kick last Wednesday- and it is always so exciting to see who has been kicking me so much!
It was so sweet, when we were watching the ultrasound, Brad was holding Savannah and at one point she looked at the screen and said, 'Baby!' I could not believe that she actually recognized the grainy black and white image as a baby! She has been so sweet with me these past few weeks- pointing to my belly and saying baby. She will pull up my shirt, give my belly a hug (complete with Awww sound effects!) and give it a pat-pat and a kiss. That is her repertoire- everything gets a hug with the aww, then a pat-pat-pat and a sweet kiss. I find myself wondering all the time how much of it she understands.... especially when she pulls up her own shirt and says Baby while pointing to her every chubby belly.
I have been such a slacker with everything these days, I have a ton of photos to upload from my camera and then one day I will manage to get them on here. Hopefully it won't be another month before I get things done again!!
