Two Week Update (again)
Silly me! I got so nostalgic when writing my last post I forgot the update on Savannah! She had her first appointment with her pediatrician last Thursday. She weighed in at a whopping 7 pounds, 1 ounce- up five ounces from what she left the hospital at. Her development is right on track, doing everything she should be doing at this age. Dr Logas said she is "perfect" but we knew that already :)
I absolutely LOVE her pediatrician, he is so sweet. I am so sad to think that we'll have to leave him behind, and have to go find a new doctor down in Sarasota. It is the only drawback about our move- I wish we could just bring him with us.
Savannah has also had her first real outings. We had to run errands today so she got to go to Target and Petsmart. We put her in her Baby Bjorn in Target and she loved it. She snuggled right in and fell asleep against my chest. I am so glad she liked it because she HATES her carseat right now and screams whenever she is in it. Hopefully she grows out of that pretty quick :) It is nice being able to take her places now, so we are able to get back into more of a normal lifestyle again.

Two Weeks
Just over two weeks ago the sweetest piece of heaven entered our lives. I was sitting here a few minutes ago, watching my husband rocking our daughter to sleep and it hit me- life is perfect.
Becoming a parent has done the most wonderful thing- it has opened up a whole new relationship for me with God. I have been blessed enough to witness an actual miracle- from conception to birth and the time between then and now. To look at Savannah and think about what she is made of- heart and lungs, muscles and tendons all put together in a perfect little package that started from nothing more than sperm and egg.
She has already grown so much. Every day brings a little more awake time. She is becoming so much more alert. Just a week ago when we put her in her swing, she kept her eyes closed the whole time. Now she sits in there with her eyes open, looking at the fish encircling her head. She looks at me and I swear, she knows who I am. It is such an incredible feeling when she is fussing and I pick her up and she calms immediately- like she is thinking I've been waiting for you to come and get me!
I cannot get enough of Savannah- and I thank God daily that she is mine forever.

She's Here!!!
Brad and I arrived at the hospital for our induction at 6:30 am on Wednesday, March 1st. Being that there is only one hospital in Ocala that delivers babies, we then had to wait 4 hours for a bed even though they had told us to come down. We got into our room and got started on Piticon to start my contractions at 11:00. Dr Bruner arrived and broke my water at 1:15 and from there things started getting pretty painful. At 2:30 I asked for something to take the edge off, so they gave me a dose of Nubane, which allowed me to relax between contractions. At this point, I was still only 3 centimeters and 80% effaced, so the nurse told Brad and my mom that she thought I'd progress at about 1 cm per hour.
The Nubane allowed me to close my eyes and get some rest. I wasn't even aware of how long it had been when things started getting very intense and all I wanted to do was push. Brad called the nurse; he thought I'd be around 6 cm... imagine his surprise when she checked me and said we were ready to have this baby! At this point it was about 4:20- I had progressed 7 cm in 2 hours!! My nurse came in and we started pushing at 4:30. Dr Bruner was called to come down at 4:40 and he arrived 5 minutes later. He immediately gave me an episiotomy and then I pushed with each contraction until Savannah Belle was born at 4:57 pm.
Although Dr Bruner was convinced she was an 8 pounder, Savannah weighed in at 6 pounds, 15 ounces and measured out at 19 3/4 inches.
Things have gone very well thus far. She's caught on to the nursing very well- as long as we can keep her awake long enough to latch on! Brad is the most wonderful father already. The episiotomy kept me in the bed most of the 2 days we were in the hospital and he jumped right into daddy mode. She's such a blessing on our lives already and we cannot hardly fathom the love we feel for her already.
